The residence certificate in Thailand can be required to prove an address in Thailand, for example, at the transport office to get your Thai car or motorcycle license; if you want to have a bank account in Thailand; if you buy a car or a motorcycle. This document certifies that a person resides in Thailand in a given locality. It recognizes your current residence address, which can be permanent or semi-permanent. Your residence can be a house, an apartment, a guesthouse or a hotel, but your stay must be long-term. If you wish to apply for a Thai driver’s license, this document is necessary to buy a car or open a bank account in Thailand, if applicable.
